Didos helps The Co-operative Group merge with United Co-op

Itim's Invoice Matching solution - Didos, will soon be taking on an extended role at The Co-operative Group as part of a key initiative to transform their finance department.

The Group has been using Didos for a number of years to automate matching of Invoices and Goods Received Notes generated from both its food warehouses and direct delivery operations. Their recent merger with United Co-op however has increased the number of stores total to around 2300, and invoice volumes have increased considerably as a result.

The project, which takes in a change of hardware, database and operating systems also, will see the use of Didos extended to take in the additional invoice matching in the drive to standardise the financial process into the Centres of Excellence operated by the Co-operative trading group businesses. To progress the speed and efficiency benefits of automated matching, the Group's Healthcare business - the third largest pharmacy chain in the UK with over 800 branches and a national distribution centre - will be implemented early in 2009, quickly followed by the Group's Clothing and E-store businesses.

Commissioned earlier this year, the project is due to go live imminently and will see Didos match up to 100,000 invoices per week at line level.

Cheryl Marshall, Director of Finance Transformation at The Co-operative Group shares her thoughts on the project. "The decision to upgrade Didos is one of the many work streams that forms part of our Finance Transformation Programme, the largest project in Finance ever to be undertaken by the Group. The upgrade will accommodate the increase in transaction volumes arising from 650 additional food stores and 2 distribution centres, and will allow us to improve and standardise processes by taking advantage of additional functionality. We have worked with Didos and Itim successfully for a number of years. The upgrade is progressing very well and we look forward to expanding the use of Didos to our Healthcare, Clothing and E-Store businesses, as well as the further expansion of our food business."
